Our Beliefs

We at Jay Baptist Church understand the world is a difficult place to find where you fit in. We all struggle day to day and need a place of refuge.

If you seek peace and strength from being tossed about from the seas of life then come and seek our Lord Jesus Christ together with us. All are welcomed

The Bible
All scripture is God breathed, and the infallible word of God (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21) and good for the equipping of the saints to all good works.

The Trinity
God eternally exists as one but in three persons who are the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1,26; Matthew 28:19; Deuteronomy 6:4).

Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ, the Son Of God, became fully man without ceasing to be truly God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that he revealed God and redeem sinful man. (John 1:1,2,14,18; 1Peter 2:24)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, that all who believe on Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. (ROMANS 3:24-25; Philippians 2:5-8; 1Peter 2:24)

Jesus will return

We believe that the personal, visible, bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ to set up his kingdom upon the earth. (Acts 1:8-11; 1Thessalonians 4:13-17; Revelation 19:11-16).

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, active in the world convincing the world of sin, of righteousness, of judgement, who calls all men to Christ; indwells, sanctifies, instructs, and comfort believers (John 16:8-11; Romans 15:16).

Man

Man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the race fell, thereby incurring not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God, inherited a sinful nature and that man of himself is utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 5:12; Romans 3:22-23)

Salvation

Salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Cavalry (for the forgiveness of our sins, thereby becoming children of God).(John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:18-19).

Bodily resurrection of the just and unjust

We believe in the Bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting conscious blessedness of the saves, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. (1Corinthians 15:20-24; 2Corinthians 5:8 Revelation 20:12-15).

Church

The church, a living, spiritual body of which is Christ is the head, and of which all regenerated (born-again) people are members, and that the local, visible Church is a company of professed believers in Jesus Christ associated together for worship, work and fellowship. (Acts 2:42-47; 1Corinthians 12:1-31; Ephesians 4:12-16)

Baptism and Communion
We believe in the observances of the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper in obedience to the commands of Christ, that Baptism is the Immersion if a believer in water as the outward expression of an inward experience of salvation and union with Christ. (Baptism: Acts 2:38-41; 1Corinthians 11:23-30; Matthew 26:26-29; Acts 8:26-40; Romans 6:3-4; Mark 1:9-11).

Every person is directly responsible to God

Every person is directly responsible to God in all matters of faith, and that this church is independent and autonomous (self-ruling) and must be free from interference from any ecclesiastical or political authority. (Philippians 2:12).

Sanctity of marriage

The sanctity of marriage is God ordained and to be between one man and one woman. We believe the Bible to support no other form of marriage than this and that all other forms (called by our current culture) “alternate lifestyles” are in opposition to Biblical directives and are to be accepted as neither right nor normal. We further stipulate that within this belief that no pastor of Jay Baptist Church will at any time be allowed to perform a “same sex” marriage. (Genesis 2:24; Romans 1:18-27).

Male and Female

The definition of “male” and “female” are to be derived biologically and that it is not morally, socially, emotionally, psychologically, spiritually nor physically right to define them in any other way. (Genesis 1:27-28; Genesis 5:1-2; Romans 1:21-32).
